Tahuks guide — Endless Legend 2

Overview

The Tahuks are devout followers of the Endless, venerating them through a peculiar mix of faith and technology. They hope their devotion will bring back the Sages, and watch the stars for signs of their return. Their lizard-and-amphibian forms and stone pyramid architecture recall ancient South American civilizations, fused with clockwork devices built to mimic the technology of the Endless they revere but don't fully grasp.

Playstyle

The science faction — but science as a weapon and a power source, not just faster research. Divert science into Holy Oculum Actions for powerful active abilities, fortify ridgelines with Observatories, and dismantle armies at range with the most ranged-heavy roster in the game.

Generate more science than other factions, and spend it on powerful Holy Oculum Actions
Observatories on mountains generate science and upgrade into Approval-boosting Libraries or Sacred Flame defensive emplacements

Weaknesses

Deadly in the right hands but vulnerable to being trapped in melee
Empire Powers are strong but every use brings drawbacks — power always has a price
Balancing the science and religion halves of the faction is deliberately tricky

Unique mechanics

Blessed by the Sages

The Tahuks' faction affinity. Build a single Holy Oculum in one of your cities to unlock Holy Oculum Actions — powerful active abilities charged by diverting some of your science generation. Effects range from upgrading Observatories with additional yields to turning an entire region into glass to further your research.

Observatories

Tahuk armies can construct Observatories on mountains, which generate science and can be upgraded into Approval-boosting Libraries or Sacred Flame defensive emplacements.

The Called

A unique type of Tahuk population. Keep them in your cities or send them away to other empires as Missionaries — how to handle the Called is an important part of your strategy.

Military

Battle affinity: Illuminated Foes

Attacks from Tahuk units “Illuminate” their target, giving the next attack against them a bonus effect: additional damage for ranged attackers, or a damage-absorbing shield for melee attackers.

Initiates

A ranged scout unit with keen awareness of their surroundings, able to see through many obstacles on the strategic map.

True Guides (speed up army movement across the map)
Vigil Masters (competent skirmishers)

Devotees

The Tahuks' only melee unit; they specialize in slowing down the enemy with their attacks.

Zealots (defensive positions, hold the line)
Lightbringers (pin down isolated targets and finish them)

Relic Keepers

Ranged support that weakens any enemy they hit.

Divine Protectors (strengthen nearby allies as they attack)
Divine Smiters (make targets feeble and vulnerable to critical hits)

Wrath Bearers

Powerful ranged units that outrange most other units in the game.

Devastating Wrath (destroy priority targets, ignoring defense)
Fire of the Gods (area-of-effect damage against hordes)
